As I walked through the two hand railings, I couldn’t help but feel a little self-conscious. Being a chubby black lady, I often feel like all eyes are on me and this moment was no exception.
But then I took a deep breath and reminded myself that I deserve to be here, just like everyone else. I may not look like a fitness model, but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy a good workout.
As I made my way through the gym, I started to notice the diversity of people around me. There were men and women of all shapes and sizes, from all walks of life, all coming together with one common goal: to better themselves.
no longer focused on my own insecurities, but rather on the positive energy of the people around me. It was so inspiring to see everyone pushing themselves to be their best selves, regardless of their appearance.
And you know what? As I continued my workout, I realized that no one was actually paying attention to me. They were all too busy working out and focusing on their own goals. And that’s how it should be.
So to all my fellow chubby ladies out there: don’t be afraid to walk through those two hand railings and claim your space in the gym. You are just as deserving as anyone else and you have the power to create a positive, supportive environment for yourself and others. Let’s show the world that fitness is for everyone, no matter your size or appearance.
